5 Minutes for Mom is having a 4th of July contest, AND GUESS WHAT THEY ARE GIVING AWAY!!! A weekend retreat for you and a friend!!!! I WANT this!!!! I have a case of the gimmies with all these cool contests right now.
My Mother in Law and Sister in law are visiting right now, and SIL brought her 5 month old son. He is just darling! And sooooooo mellow. Really makin' me baby itchy!
She keeps showing me ADORABLE baby stuff!!!!!!!!! I have no babies. I have big kids. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
So she's running another contest! This one is for a Solarveil ring sling from KimzCreations. Myself -- I am COVETING the tye dye ones SOOOO BAD! Kim's prices are so reasonable! Soooo I am entering! Even though I don't have a baby. Thing 2 has told me that I should wait until God gives us a baby before I get a sling.... Thing 1 has informed me that I have a case of the gimmies....
GIMMIE! GIMMIE! GIMMIE!
Ok - all better. (gimmie)
Soooooo, for the last few months DH has been working out of town at a major metropolis. It's more that 2 hours away - so he's away all week and home on the weekends. I have hated it.
Truly, the Father has been taking care of us. We needed the extra money to pay for dental bills and the like. But I miss my hubby.
SO Friday we were playing with the neighbors - swimmin' in the pool. and Guess what?? Hubster calls and says that he got a suite for the weekend by himself -since they are working tons of overtime this weekend - and did I want to bring the kids down?
SO, y'all have to know - I dislike driving long distances, and HATE driving in cities. It seems like people check their brains at the door (at least in all the cities near where I live). And guess where I am???
Not in my hometown!! We bugged out to stay with Daddy. And I even took the kids into said major metropolis for some site seeing BY MYSELF while Dad was at work.
We needed this. We needed some time together. Next week the Mother in Law and Sister in Law and new nephew will be here. Oh yeah and after 2 days DH, will be back in this major metropolis. ARGHHH!!
As for the teeth. Much better. But I still need more work after this heals.
Thing 1, my little man, he bought a camera and has been taking pictures of our trip all day. I think for a school project I will get him some scrapbooking materials and have him scrapbook our trip. Homeschooling has actually been doing well. The kids even ask to do school work in the evening, And things seem to FINALLY be progressing with his reading.
Teeth done. Jaw hurts - though less than childbirth...
Thing 2 had Dance recital tomorrow - we had dress rehearsal today - and they are TOO stinkin cute for words!
I go in at 10 AM EST for oral surgery. I know it's not a huge deal but I am a little nervous. So any prayers would be great - for the docs, my nerves and a quick recovery. K?? Thanks
I've been Tagged By Angie this time! And SHOCKER! I am posting mine the SAME.DAY.SHE.TAGGED.ME!!!! Pick up your jaw off th floor please!

Or how to wake up the whole neighborhood in 12 easy steps.
1.go to bed. Make sure to take your Unisom (generic will be fine)
1 1/2. Don't forget to turn on the air conditioner and close all doors!
2.SLEEP blissfully unaware of whats to come. Make sure to accidentally leave the window open the the "craft room" (no crafts are actually DONE in there though..)
3. get woken up at 6:30 ish to a thunk thunk thunk on the air conditioner. Slowly wake up from the siren that is Unisom.
4. Realize there is a noise in the other room.
5.Realize it is the fire alarm.
6. Grab your robe (let's not get into what was worn to bed) and stumble to the craft room to kill th noise (you are STILL not fully awake)
7. Glance out the window while killing the fire alarm (dying battery - no fire!) see the nice police man's car in front of your house.
8.Hear the phone ringing. Cinch robe tighter. stumble downstairs.
9.Greet your worried neighbors and friends (and the friendly police man!) with MAJOR bed-head.
10. Let them know about the alarm. A n the Unisom and the closed door. and the Air conditioner....
11. Thank everyone. Make a mental note to give my one neighbor a key to the house.
12. As you go back to bed. Hear the siren to call the fire trucks -- it only rings once though. Realize they were ABOUT TO CALL THE FIRE ENGINE TO YOUR HOUSE!!!!
THANK GOD for my good friends who were worried enough about me to do all this!
So, the other day we saw THIS POST on Scribbit (aka Michelle Mitchell). The kids HAD to do it. We didn't get to it until today though. I kept the TV off all afternoon and the kids had a BLAST building their own castles.
Thing 2's is pink (of course!) and Thing 1's is red. we even used Popsicle sticks and paper scraps and made little people. They are soooo cute!
Nope no pics - I took them but DH has the computer with the picture do-dad and he took it with him out of town this week. I am sooooooo done with him being out of town.
So Over at Casa Chili there is a little meme going on.. I thought I would jump on board. Although I am #somewhere after 100 so I doubt I'll get many hits I thought I would answer these questions at least for myself...
How did you start blogging?
I had been reading blogs for a while -- an I was having such a great time I thought I would try it. After all all the cool kids were doing it. And really - I talk to myself ALOT so I thought maybe I could stem that tendency by writing it down. Instead, now I talk to myself in blog posts.
Did you intend to be a blog w/a big following? If so, how did you go about it? o
K- I won't lie. I hoped to get a following at some point. Really, if I wanted it to be just for me I could write in a diary or scrapbook. I guess to ACQUIRE a following posting on a more regular basis would help. ;-) I know I have a couple of regular readers though.
What do you hope to achieve or accomplish with your blog? Have you been successful? If not, do you have a plan to achieve those goals?
Goal? None really, other than thinking out loud - and hopefully finding out I am not crazed. HA!
Has the focus of your blog changed since you started blogging? How?
I would say yes. It was slot about my garden at first, now it's more about my kids, depression and smattering of faith thrown in for flavor. MY life has change d SO MUCH since I started posting that the blog had to grow and change as well.
What do you know now that you wish you'd known when you started?
I wish I had researched my platform better.
Do you make money with your blog?
No but I wish I did. Gotta figure that one out. And I totally want some free stuff. Of course since I don't have a huge following.....
Does your immediate or extended family know about your blog? If so, do they read it? If not, why?
Hubby yes, mom NO - my friends - well some of them actually read me. But my church friends or homeschool friends I have yet to tell. This sounds silly but it's kinda intimate - I delve into some deep stuff sometimes (not so much lately) and I would feel exposed if I was standing in line at the play-center with someone I knew read some of the stuff I have written.
What two pieces of advice would you give to a new blogger?
Remember not to write anything you'll regret.
Don't blog during a storm ----!!!!!
